Dr. Charles Martinez
Clinic Medical Director and one of the founders of Old Irving Park Community Clinic (OIPCC). Dr. Martinez graduated St. Louis University Medical School. He completed his internship at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center Chicago. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine at Hines VA. He is well respected as a clinician in the fields of Nuclear Medicine and Internal Medicine. Dr. Martinez served as Director of the Division of Nuclear Medicine at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Illinois from 1984 to 2002. He is an Emeritus Attending Physician in the Divisions of Nuclear Medicine and Internal Medicine at Lutheran General Hospital 2005 to present. At OIPCC Dr. Martinez sees patients on a regular basis as an Internal Medicine Physician. His hobbies are writing, golf and bird watching.
Yvonne Smilovitz. RN
Yvonne has been a nurse for over eight years working in both clinical and hospital settings. She also has experience working for nonprofit organizations as well as extensive experience in HR outsourcing, where she managed health benefits for many fortune 500 companies. Yvonne enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and watching movies.
Andrew Lindstad, JD MPA
Andrew Lindstad is a results-oriented nonprofit professional with nineteen years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, government relations, marketing, and communications. During his career, he has managed multi-million dollar giving programs, specializing in institutional giving, major individual giving, and planned giving. Andrew has broad nonprofit experience, leading organizations in education, arts and culture, and mental health. Andrew has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming, a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Colorado, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys performing, hearing live music, seeing local theater, and enjoying delicious food at Chicago’s restaurants.
Dr. Melissa Richardson, MA, PhD, LCPC
Dr. Richardson has been providing therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families, and groups since 2008. Her clinical work has spanned a variety of settings, including a domestic violence agency, multiple Chicago Public Schools, the Cook County Jail, and private practice. Across these settings, she has provided mental health counseling to clients, as well as clinical supervision to counseling interns and pre-licensed therapists. In 2025, she joined OIPCC as the Director of Behavioral Health.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Richardson has extensive experience in counselor education and training. She has taught Master’s level counseling courses at several academic institutions in Chicago. She has facilitated workshops and contributed to panel discussions and media interviews on topics related to mental health, trauma recovery, and wellness. She also brings many years of experience in program development and non-profit leadership, with a focus on building sustainable mental health supports for schools and communities.
Grounded in a multicultural orientation and principles of social justice, Dr. Richardson strives to create relationships that are respectful, collaborative, and empowering. She believes that all people deserve high-quality healthcare that supports healing, resilience, and the ability to navigate life’s challenges.
