Q: How did you originally get involved with OIPCC?

A:
I had heard that a free clinic was opening in the neighborhood and wanted to be involved. I had the
opportunity to be involved with another free clinic in Chicago when it was pretty much in the grass roots
phase and was very fulfilled in helping out .

Q: How long have you been a volunteer at OIPCC?

A:
I have been a volunteer for about one year.

Q: What do you find most rewarding about the work that you do at OIPCC?

A:
I work with  an OB/Gyn , Dr. Isabel Gomez and we are able to hopefully address most of their needs.
The women that are evaluated for the basic of testing to biopsies,  such as a Pap to an Endometrial bx ,
that are so appreciative of the time and efforts that are made to either clarify a concern, diagnosis an
illness, or just have the reassurance that their annual exam has been finally performed after several
years of not having the access to healthcare.

Q: What kind of impact do you feel OIPCC has on the community?

A:
I believe we have a tremendous impact on the individuals we treat , but unfortunately I do not think the
community feels it ,YET, I believe that we need more exposure through some great marketing!!  I also
help out with the Fundraising.

Q: Do you have any stories in prticular that would capture the special
work going on at OIPCC?

A:
What comes to mind is that between the languages of English, Spanish, and Polish the
communication and compassion that is felt from the front staff to the providers touches one's heart
everytime one has the experience of working at the clinic !!
